A 2D multiplayer educational game for Dutch middle schoolers built
using Unity and Mirror Networking, oriented for
rapid play sessions in groups of two to four people. The
game was requested by CBS De Schutse to enhance their
learning experience.
The players have to explore a magical school with stars scattered
throughout the area. As they compete against each other in an
attempt to collect as many stars as possible, they are also
working towards a common goal of unlocking the exit once enough
stars are obtained.
This game is a collaborative effort of the
"Golden Star Studios" group, which included five Hanze
students besides me. The project began in February 2023 and ended
in June 2023.
I implemented all of the following features with Mirror and ensured that they work for all of the players on the server.
Partially randomized & fully optimized, this system ensures new placement of the stars each round.
Semi-randomized, this system either gives the player an advantage or puts others at a disadvantage.
Scattered throughout the screen, various UI elements ensure that the player can keep track of what is going on.
Final trailer for the game, showcasing its main features.
